HAPF INFANTRY
Readers of Protector and Preceptor rank are authorized to view the equipment and doctrine of the Humanist Alliance Protection Force.
Faction: HAPF
Stat Block
Primary Skills: Athletics (Endurance Training), Awareness (Battlefield), Tactics (Protectors), Gunnery (Small Arms), Gunnery (Heavy Weapons), Melee (Vibroknife)
Secondary Skills: Medicine (First Aid), Influence (Intimidation), Pilot (Ground Vehicle), Melee (Unarmed), Institutions (Humanist Castes)
Squad Organization
HAPF troops are organized around the 5-man Penarion. Standard Penariones consist of 4 soldiers with Main Weapons and 1 soldier with a Support Weapon, while Specialist Penariones have 1 soldier with a Main Weapon and 4 with Support Weapons. Two Penariones form a Dekarion, which can consist of any possible combination of Penariones.
Dress Uniform
The HAPF “dress” (actual formal occasions are done in armor or incredibly impractical formal wear) uniform is a light orange shirt and pants. A blue four-pointed cap is worn outdoors.
Armor: Javelin Systems Protector Class III Heavy Armor
A battle-ready version of the Class II POP Suit, the Class III strips all the unnecessary policing equipment to mount more hardened ceramic protection. Heavy armor is generally too impairing to be the standard issue for most militaries, but Protectors are selected for their physical abilities and can usually handle it. (Heavy Flak, Stun Protected, Full Suit)
Main Weapon: Erga Sfika 7R Battle Rifle
Based on the Public Order Protectors’ Sfika 9R, this gun still maintains some features of its original police version like the ability to fire stun darts. It is notorious for being nearly impossible to field-strip, and it is recommended to bring special tools if its disassembly is needed. (Medium Carbine, Underslung Weapon [Dart Gun], Special Design)
Main Weapon: Erga Sfika 9S Submachine Gun
A submachine gun with telescoping construction allowing it to be compacted for ease of transport. Despite being built by Erga Sfika, the 9S does not actually accept Sfika ammunition. As a consequence is is looked down upon by officers for its lack of utility and beloved by soldiers for being easy to repair. (Medium Submachine Gun, Compact)
Main Weapon: Erga Sfika 20C Shotgun
One of the last new weapons developed before the annexation of the Alliance, the 20C manages to greatly simplify the internal design relative to previous Sfika weapon. Plans to re-engineer other weapons to use the same structure were cut short by the occupation of White Rock. (Medium Shotgun, Underslung Weapon [Dart Gun])
Sidearm: Erga Sfika 7P Dart Pistol
Fundamentally the same logic as the 7R battle rifle, only applied to the 9P pistol. Annoyingly, an entirely separate set of tools is needed to disassemble it. (Medium Pistol, Underslung Dart Gun, Special Design)
Sidearm: Paxton P9 Automatic Pistol
Paxton’s standard pistol design, adopted as an alternative to the notoriously finicky Humanist-built weapons. Protectors tend to dislike it, seeing it as crude and inelegant. (Medium Pistol)
Melee Weapon: Allied Defense Works PN10 Vibroknife
A compact vibroknife grudgingly adopted after shock sticks proved less than useful on the battlefield, the PN10 is controversial for being purely a killing weapon that took the role of a nonlethal one, which some see as a betrayal of the Humanist philosophy. (Light Vibroknife)
Specialist Armor: Allied Defense Works Protector Class V Patrol Armor
A light padded suit for the Mounted Patrol Rangers. It provides some protection against small arms fire, but its primary function is to allow the wearer to survive being suddenly flung from their mount or vehicle in the event of an accident. (Light Flak, Crash Proof)
Support Weapon: Erga Sfika 15D Machine Gun
A squad support machine gun that was originally designed as a Sfika weapon for crowd control. The size of the darts proved too dangerous to its targets, and it was redesigned as a purely military weapon. (Medium Machine Gun)
Support Weapon: Javelin Systems LL02 Incinerator
An unconventional infantry flamethrower designed for the Legion of Lead that uses the gas-based incendiary system of gear flamers. The flame burns much hotter than most comparable weapons, but requires a complicated multi-tubed backpack setup to be used properly. (Medium Flamer, Advanced, Bulky)
Support Weapon: Javelin Systems LL01 Miasma
Another weapon meant for the Legion of Lead, firing air-detonating projectiles that disperse toxic gas over a wide range more effectively than traditional grenade launchers. The standard Legion of Lead doctrine was to saturate an area with these before moving in with flamers. (Medium Grenade Launcher, High Quality, Fixed Ammunition: Gas)
Support Weapon: Allied Defense Works GDX1.1 Tactical Laser
The HAPF was the first military on Terra Nova to widely deploy lasers in an direct infantry support role thanks to the results of Project Golden Dawn. The GDX1.1 can’t be fired on the move like CEF weapons, but is otherwise a much closer replication than other leagues could manage. (Medium Infantry Laser, Heavy Recoil)
Support Weapon: Allied Defense Works GDX0.8 Tactical Laser
Another result of Project Golden Dawn, the GDX0.8 is less innovative than the GDX1.1 but is in some ways the better weapon, improving upon other sniper laser weapons in almost every way. The increased lasing power makes it a rival to even the legendary Marksman. (Heavy Sniper Laser, Reliable)
Extra: A House Divided
HAPF troops in areas annexed by the Southern Republic and later integrated into the EAZ also use MILICIA equipment. Anti-Republican rebels and HAPF troops in areas not integrated into the EAZ also use NuCoal equipment. HAPF equipment produced under Republican occupation may have the Inferior Weapon or Flawed qualities.
New Weapon Trait: Fixed Ammunition
This weapon can only use the listed type of ammunition. -1 PL.
