The Peace River Myrmidon

Peace River Myrmidon

PA-MX01 Myrmidon

With the success of the initial prototypes of the Warrior Elite came additional funding, resources and an extended research and development profile. The extended profile called for the research and development of four additional Gear designs to fill a wide range of mission requirements. The first of these, meant to fill the role of heavy assault Gear, was given the name Myrmidon.

The Myrmidon’s primary function is to act as a multipurpose heavy weapons platform for the defense of Peace River. The Myrmidon prototype was armed with a 45 mm drum-fed Banshee heavy autocannon, a prototype design itself. The main gun was supplemented by medium rockets and twin linked autocannons for close defense. In addition to heavy armor and reinforcement for the pilot, the entire crew compartment was moved towards the rear of the chassis and away from the head assembly, a design choice similar to the venerable Black Adders of the South.

The Myrmidon has been brought to a late prototype stage in record time due to the efforts of engineers Bohnet, Leblanc and the rest of the Myrmidon design team. At present, two versions of this late stage prototype have been produced. Due to the death of one of the Myrmidon team’s pilots, however, only one of the prototypes has been undergoing trials.

Converting the Myrmidon

The Myrmidon is pretty straight forward to assemble from the Raptor kit, though you’ll also want a 45° Rocket pack for the shoulder, instead of the one in the kit (if you want to be accurate to the art). I used a medium sized V-Engine (Mamba or Jaguar sized) to replace the jetpack (though a Mamba-sized backpack would also fit fine), and used a bit of plastic card to cover the hole in the top of the Hull where the APR are normally mounted.

If you want to take your conversion even further, you can 3d print some parts sculpted by Taro Kawagoe (aka Kayuna), over at his Patreon, Game Mini Garage! Taro has sculpted gun parts which fit perfectly onto the Raptor torso to make the linked light rotary cannons.
