Daze of Futures Past

The following transmission was intercepted from the CP-04/4748.6 gate on 1 Spring by a deep-space listening post. Its point of origin is unknown—it could not have come from Terra Nova, yet consists of a series of what seem to be bizarre jokes that only make sense if written from a Terra Novan perspective. Wolfe in the science division suggests that this transmission may originate in an alternate universe and entered our own through foldspace, but I think he’s been drinking too much Fort James Special. This is clearly some sort of strange hoax, but further investigation into the reason behind its existence may be warranted.

Chairwoman Renault,

I am happy to report that the Colonial Federation’s operations in the Sol system are proceeding as planned. Resistance in space has been manageable since the defeat of the NEC’s transforming moon-sized war robot in Jupiter orbit, allowing us to focus on surface landings. The first wave of 10,000 Black Talons have made landfall on Earth and established an effective perimeter thanks to our Koreshi-supplied anti-GREL sonic weapons and the prophecies of the blind seers of Jotunheim allowing us to effectively predict enemy movements. We are now, however, facing serious resistance from the Knights of the Crescent’s new FrameStriders and their building-sized bio-giant megaGRELs, limiting the rate of our advance to a mere 1000km per day.

Fortunately, these problems should be solved by the arrival of the next landing wave. Using the nanomachines provided by the En Koreshi we have been able to ensure a consistent level of Prime Knight upgrades, distributed equally among the colonial forces (naturally excepting the New Jerusalemites, who are all brains in jars and have no body to remodel) and significantly improving our combat performance, allowing us to easy counter the NEC’s bio-giants. We should have the planet captured in a little over a month—admittedly an abnormally slow amount of time to conquer a planet, but this is a special circumstance.

I’m also glad to report that construction of the Terra Novan capital in Peace River has finally been completed. As all Terra Novan governments have successfully transitioned into stable liberal democracies, it was a simple matter for them to integrate into the new supranational union. While some rogue factions in the polar leagues resisted the formation of the new global government, NuCoal forces were successfully able to defeat them using their superior technology, tactics, and numbers, as well as Colonel Arthur’s ability to personally defeat any enemy leader in hand to hand combat. Louise DeRouen has been elected as the first President of Terra Nova, and given her sterling record on human rights and freedom of speech the planet should be in good hands going forwards.

With the NEC’s defeat soon at hand, the Federation has focused its efforts on preparing for the attack against Adrianna Xing’s secret extragalactic base. Obviously Terra Novans will form the spearhead of this attack due to their heart and pluck giving them a quantifiable advantage in combat, but the other colonies will participate as well. New models of GearStriders, MountStriders, AvatarStriders, and FleshBeastStriders are already in production, and they promise to be completely superior to older models with no downside whatsoever. If all goes well we should be able to capture Xing and learn the identity of her secret masters (obviously they’re Prime Knights, but we still don’t know which one of the 87 identified Prime Knight remnant groups). We might also bring along some Edenites with us so we can be entertained by how they try to act like a real army. That one’s always good for a laugh.

How’s the work on restoring Utopia’s biosphere going? The last I heard there were some problems disposing of the toxic chemicals the CEF had been dumping everywhere, but the Koreshi instant terraforming technology should have been a big help. I know Premier Stamens has used it in the UMF to accelerate their transition to a post-scarcity society. Incorporating it into the UT/NA-PISH[TIM]s should be fairly simple.

Personally, I’ve been continuing to train my psychokinetic powers. I’m not at the level of the En Koreshi or Jotunheimer rune priest yet, but I’m better than the average Valkyrie. The Twins have been helping me out a lot there, even if they spend half their time communing with Adam Two on the astral plane. They’ve been asking about you, so I hope you’ll show up for a talk sometime. See you soon!
