The CEF G-16 is kind of an odd duck of a gear. If you play only CEF factions, you might not have access to the bits you will need to turn a F6-16 into a G-16. Fortunately though, most of the parts are easily accessible from a friend’s bits box!

First up is to decide where your CEF forces will be sourcing their equipment from. If your G-16’s are on Terra Nova, using salvaged gear from the locals, then getting your hands on some Medium and Heavy Autocannons, Medium Bazookas, Frag Cannons from various TN factions is pretty straight forward. If you want the frames to look particularly scrappy, you can always use a TN sourced V-Engine which has been recovered and pressed into service.

Hi my name is Olen, most folks in the hobby know me by Dozer. I play primarily Infinity (Nomads or JSA) out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. That means I spell some words with “ou” instead of just “o”.

 I guess my post of my Black Talon forces on Discord caught someone’s attention. I was asked about my minis. It’s very flattering to be asked about my hobby work so I wrote it all (story and process) down. 

The Hunter Commando Storm is simply made from a regular Hunter Commando, with a Light Autocannon and a Light Guided Mortar attached to the backpack. You probably have ample numbers of LACs around, and maybe an extra LGM too.

To start, we’re going to use the Longbow Jäger, which gives us the correct chassis and head to work with. The equipment of the Blitz variant differs a bit though.

You’re also going to need a Heavy Autocannon, Light Field Mortar, and LATM (LA:2). The first two you might have around if you’ve assembled any Bushmaster cobras, while the LATM (LA:2) often comes in other packs. All of these parts are available on the plastic sprues too, so check your bits boxes!

Starting with a Vulture, you’re going to need to change it’s normal jetpack equipped V-Engine, with a Crusader’s V-Engine. Mount the LFM onto the back like normal for the Crusader, or if you want the Pilum variant, you can mount the MATM on the back as in the picture below.

I took inspiration for my camouflage scheme from another old Blitz source, which showed a red stripes over green pattern for swamp camouflage. To break up the design, I incorporated blocks of olive, black, and khaki, leaving the green camouflaged armor for the sturdiest bits. When painting the infantry, I went with a green-brown color for the coats, but died them into the rest of the army by painting their helmet with a similar green and red pattern. I’ve found that when you’re painting camouflage schemes, it’s important to break up the areas of the model, otherwise the camouflage does it’s job and it all blends together! While that’s more realistic, it’s a bit less appealing on a mini.

So first up, if you are working from scratch, the DP9 store already has you sorted! The individual Para Jäger comes with the Longbow parts ready to go. If you don’t have single pack (maybe you got the two-pack or the paratrooper box), it’s pretty easy to put together from bits from the shop or out of your bits box.

These infantry a bit bigger than our normal 12mm tall infantry as Mordred GRELs are 8 feet tall, so the minis are 16mm tall to be in scale. Jan and Morgana GREL infantry are a bit shorter at 14mm and 13mm tall and models in kneeling poses like the Morgana Sniper are just 11mm tall.
